Sainik Schools were recently associated with the Virsa platform, Routes2Roots. Virsa is a pioneer program for integrating art and culture with information technology and telecommunications. The aim of the project is to help students to de-stress and help them focus on their education, especially in these years of the unprecedented pandemic. Sainik schools belonging to the Sainik school society, are present in every state of the country. 33 Sainik Schools are associated with the Virsa platform. Through Virsa’s digital platform almost 35,000 students will be impacted by these classes.
The students will be able to learn various disciplines which include – Hindustani classical vocal, Carnatic vocal, Harmonium, Tabla, Flute, Sitar, Bharatanatyam, Keyboard, Kathak, Guitar, Theatre, Brain Development & Mindfulness, Yoga, Fun with Maths, and Punjabi Literature & Culture from the renowned artiste. These fully residential education institutions are now a part of the Virsa digital program of learning performing arts.
“We are happy to announce our association with Routes2Roots in organizing the Virsa program for Sainik School students. The classes help school-going children reduce their stress levels and improve their ability to focus on their studies, said Sainik School Kazhakootam”.
The installation process of Virsa software and equipment has been initiated for all the schools across the country and the training of the relevant staff members has also been conducted to ensure the students can smoothly access Virsa digital classes and workshops.
With this, the Sainik Schools now become a part of the massive country-wide cultural movement initiated by Routes2Roots.
“We at Routes2Roots are glad to be associated with Sainik Schools. We look forward to more such associations across India, which will help students across India to learn cultural activities online, said Mr. Rakesh Gupta, Co-founder, Routes2Roots.”
Virsa reached from the schools to all the children’s homes, thus making Virsa a household program. The unique classes of (NLP) Brain Development & Mindfulness have taught the children to deal with their academic and mental stress during the lockdown and how to channelize their energies through different activities within the four walls of their homes.
